FAA Issues Correction on Hazmat Civil Penalty A July 14

FAA news release (AMC 05-00) incorrectly said a proposed civil penalty against Mexicana Airlines was for shipping oxygen generators aboard passenger aircraft. In fact, the allegation is that Mexicana offered the oxygen generators for shipment on FedEx cargo aircraft in unmarked boxes.

The materials were not carried aboard passenger aircraft. The proposed $240,000 civil penalty against Mexicana Airlines is for allegedly offering six oxygen generators for shipment by air from Brownsville, Texas, to Yorba Linda, Calif., in unmarked boxes, a violation of several hazardous materials regulations.
